Pop of Paradise 2

Quick post this morning - the second card for Card and a Cuppa today, uses other stamps from the set with the flamingo and two of the new in-colours. The two shades of green, tranquil tide and lemon lime twist. They look brilliant together. Another staright forward stamping card, just the addition of some of those glitzy gems to finish it off.

When is a box not just a box.......?

Its time for the Tuesday afternoon group to create something other than cards. They had been asking to make boxes. I had been reluctant as this is not one of my strengths but I needed to give it a go.
But I haven't just come with any box I have created a box within a box, actually a box within an exploding box. A first for me and I am so pleased with it as its just what I was asked for.

Firstly I had to make the little box for the inside, this was my starting point as this was the box a customer had seen and liked. then I created the design around it and lastly the exploding box around the outside. I haven't finished yet I still need to decorate the lid of the box, and create the tags/notes for the inside pockets, but I am so pleased with the bare bones of how it has turned out.

The little house that was the start of the project. I have added little flowers to the side window in a window box, around the the other two sides I have stamped with green leaves and some flowers, then added a die cut tree and a fence to the base card/central square.  It all folds up flat inside the lid. Happy dance in the den when I finished this yesterday. I just hope the ladies on Tuesday afternoon like it.

A work in progress but nearly finished!

Pop of Paradise

Last week in my Tuesday morning Cards and a Cuppa session at The Secret Cafe we made two very specific cards, one with 'get well soon' sentiments and the other a sympathy card. Both very necessary but not the easiest to make when needed.
This week I have decided to start with a pop of pink and the Pop of Paradise stamp set. I would be interested to know  how many of my readers who are Stampin' Up demonstrators or users of Stampin'Up ink can recognise the colours I have used. Its a bit of a fun card.

I regularly use this layout for a card, 4 squares to the top right hand corner, ribbon and sentiment in the lower half of the card.

So what colours are these flamingo's?

Good simple stamping, card and ink. - Fancy making one then join me between 9.30  - 11.00am on Tuesday morning in The Secret Cafe, Tenterfields Business Park, Burnley Rd, Halifax.

Oh So Eclectic

This card is made with the same stamp set as yesterdays poppies. How different can you get?

This card showcases the use of the dies that match the stamp set. I started with die cutting the lattice pattern from the very vanilla cardstock. The flowers and leaves are stamped  using the two step stamping technique on spare very vanilla card then die cut. Putting the card together I have threaded the leaves and flowers through the lattice die cut  and layered up on tempting turquoise

The ribbon is from  my stash. The sentiment 'Happy Birthday' is from the Fairy Celebration stamp set. The two step stamping really gives the leaves and flowers some texture. Such a pretty card.

Poppies

I wonder how many of you who read this and use Stampin'Up products know which stamp set I have used here.
I always love poppies and I also love water-colouring.

This is the large flower background in the 'Oh So Eclectic' stamp set. I have stamped it on really good quality heavyweight watercolour paper. I watered the paper first using an aqua painter. Then stamped with real red. I again wet the paper in the centre of the flower and using the aqua painter added more colour. This gives it a real intensity. Then I left the paper to dry. The black centre of the flower is stamped with momento using one of the flower centre stamps. Don't you just love the way the ink has fuzzed at the edges of the petals. To add the leaves I covered the flowers with a mask then used stamped off ink to add the stems and leaves
Unfortunately I didn't have any current red ribbon so I had to use some out of my stash. Then a little sentiment. I actually thought twice about adding a sentiment. I think I am going to do another one of these but 5" square then put it into a frame. I love it that much. What do you think.

Painted Harvest

I can't believe its a week since I last posted. Last weekend I did a craft fair at the top of the calder valley in Todmorden. It was a brilliant day. Lots of lovely people made a card at the 'make and take' table. Plus all my large square cards sold out.
Yesterday I used the painted harvest stamp set for the first time in class. There was some influence from pinterest for my makes but it was an amalgamation of lots of ideas.
My ladies who come to Tuesday class love Wisteria Wonder and Elegant Eggplant..... they are purple girls!  So the first card is just about two step stamping, it did take us longer than I expected but we had many laughs along the way and everyone was really happy about with the card they had made.

The ribbon is the retired seam binding and yes I have quite a stock of it as I love this colour.

Over the next few months I can see me trying this with lots of different colour combinations. I know its really a sunflower but it doesn't have to be yellows!
This stamp set comes in a bundle with a punch, the punch matches the leaves in this set.

Cheery Chirps

This is one of the stamps from the set which is on page 41 of the new seasonal catalogue. If you haven't got a catalogue and would like one drop me a line here. On September 15th I have a class called 'Sweet and Simple' We will make 6 cards, 2 each of three designs. This card is one of the designs.

The Cheery Chirps as one of the first sets I bought from this seasonal catalogue. There are three stamps and I love them all. This bluebird is quite large and makes a dramatic card. I haven't added a sentiment as I still considering what to put!

For this technique you do need a roll of low tack paper. I do use a lot of this but once I have the shape cut out of the low tack I save them and keep them in the box with the stamp as you can use it over and over again.

This card is 6" square, which gives you an idea of how large the stamp is. I think I would be inclined to leave the piece of mistletoe or branch out of the mouth.

The background has been daubed (thats three days in a row! I had better do something different tomorrow). then over-stamped with stamps in the Timeless Textures stamp set . The coloured parts of the bird have been done with the marker pens and although it doesn't show up in pictures I have used the fine tip glue over the colour. This gives a raised shiny effect.

What sentiment would you add to this?

Developing backgrounds

This card was one for todays Tuesday afternoon class. We regularly work on a new technique, often doing 3 cards using that technique. This one is called 'Bokeh' I can't say I know how to pronounce it.

For this card I have started with daubing then used the circle cut outs for the daubing with white ink. If you want the white to stand out it needs to be layered with ink a few times, I went for a more subtle finish. The little dandelion head is from the same set as yesterdays card - the Balloon Celebration set.

The colours for the daubing are Dapper Denim,  Pool Party and Soft Sky. The dandelion clock heads are stamped in dapper denim, the dots are also stamped in this colour but I have stamped them on my workpaper before the card front, this is called stamping off.

A few balloons

This is one of the cards for Card and a Cuppa tomorrow. I am going back to some of the stamp sets in the main catalogue I haven't used for a while. I really like the balloon celebration as it has a punch and not dies so the big shot can stay in the cupboard!
For card and a cuppa I concentrate on stamping. We don't have a lot of time for intricate techniques but using three colours always makes for an interesting morning.

The metallic sequin assortment just adds a bit of sparkle. These are on the clearance rack reduced to £1.60 and a good buy for your Christmas makes.

Mirror mirror

I have had such fun decorating these mirrors. I have had a good rummage amongst my retired stamp sets for some of the images, I wanted a wide range as I plan on taking them to a craft fair next week, so I have one for the boys, one for the girls and a second one for the adults. (remember the mermaid mirror I showed you a few weeks ago)

First up one for the boys. robots and parachuting soldiers!

Do you know a little boy who would love this.

One for the girls, I wasn't sure about adding 'best kid ever' to this one, so I didn't. It still looks a bit bare.

The other mirror looks like this

All stamped with black stazon then coloured with stazon inks using a blender pen.

Jems September Blog Hop - Autumn Colours.

Firstly I am sorry about the lack of posts for the last week or so. After the excitement of a brilliant wedding I hit earth with a bump and a re-occurring  illness. Back on the mend now and creating again.
The title Autumn Colours left the way wide open for a huge variety of makes and mine has come from a drawer full of canvasses that I had a few ideas for but never got around to making then I saw a post by Debbie Mageed and there was the inspiration.

My Painted Harvest papers arrived along with the stamp set last Wednesday and I was off I knew just what it was going to look like and am so pleased with the way it has come out. I much prefer 3D makes and am now experimenting more with mixed media. All of the items are current except the mini pinecones which were Stampin' Up's last years embellishments but I love them and have quite a stash!

I have actually cut into a canvas then curled the pieces back. I added paper to the back of the canvas before I cut it with gesso and painted it with gesso to tone down the colours. I then cut a piece of wisper white card to fit and created my background with daubing and stamping the lovely as a tree. Once this was in place and the canvas pieces rolled back the fussy cutting started. The lovely sunflowers stamped with crushed curry and pumpkin pie, for the leaves I daubed a piece of card then stamped with momento before punching out. Love this bundle so many more makes to come. The bluebird represents the swallows in the field behind our house. They seem to be swooping every moment of the day, I expect to feed up before they start their long journey home. Finally a hessian bow with the pinecones, tied with bakers twine and a couple of buttons and in the lower corner some felt mushrooms and a stack of mini leaves. and in the top right a label that reads "Autumn'.

I changed the paper in my light box and admit its a bit too much with this make. I will have to change it back on Monday morning. However it is quite autumnal. The pine cones were collected from the car park next to the studio. Aren't they lovely.

The blue bird is from the Cheery Chirps stamp set. I plan on doing something similar with the Robin but a very wintery feel.

Background Bits - 6 pretty cards in a tin....

This is the second of the hostess stamp sets that my customers love. In order to get this set you need to be a 'hostess' and have a minimum of £150 in orders. To be the hostess you could have a crafty party at home with your friends or you can use my craft studio for free and we will have the party there. I create a make and take so that all your friends go home with a card they can send, we have a few nibbles and a steady supply of tea and coffee and we do a little tour of the current catalogue with a few games. I keep Thursday evenings free for parties. Get in contact and book yours.

These are the six cards we are making in class this week. There are a number of techniques with a limited colour palette. I have used the Stampin Up note cards which are a lovely cute size, matching the size of the images in the stamp set.

I must admit my crafty mojo seems to have deserted me since we came back from the wedding and most of the ideas for these are from Pinterest. If you recognise something of yours I apologise for not adding a link. I usually do but I am just not on top of things at the moment. Thanks to you all for your inspiration.

Back tomorrow with 3 ways of making cards with one embossing folder.
